Makeup Artist Essentials!

This blog post is a bit out of the ordinary, but my exams are coming up very shortly and I have SO many supplies to purchase. I started looking on beauty supplies websites but the prices are extortionate, so I detoured to Amazon and got everything I needed for less than £20! BARGAIN!

The value you got on Amazon is phenomenal and you can even buy branded goods for a fraction of the normal retail price. I love how Amazon is UK based also so if you have any issues with your goods it is very easy to contact the company.

My all-time favourite lashes are the Ardell Demi Wispies, but at €6 a pair I couldn't afford to wear them every day or supply them for all my clients. On amazon you can purchase 8 pairs for only £15, I will definitely be stocking up on these lashes. They are so natural and lightweight, but look really fab on the eyes. You can get them here.

Disposable mascara wands and lip brushes are a firm staple in any makeup artists kit, but they often come at a very high cost. At the beauty show they were selling 25 wands for €3.50, but on amazon you can get 100 for less than £2.50.

You can get the mascara wands here
You can get lip brushes here

Another thing that trainee makeup artists need are these velcro head bands (essential for exams) and can cost up to £15 online. These ones are only £1.98 and you can get them here.

Another thing needed for exams is a hair dressing cape, to ensure you don't spill any product on your clients. These usually come at a very high cost and to be honest I don't want to invest a lot of money in something I won't use very often. This one costs £3.40 and you can purchase it here.

You will go through cotton pads and cotton buds like there is no tomorrow, so stock up on bargains like these Johnsons cotton buds when you can!

480 cotton pads for £6.49 here.

Duo Glue is a godsend for eyelashes and placing pigments! You can get a dark-toned tube here for only £4. You can get the clear tube here for £5.

A stainless steel palette and spatula are absolutely essential and will become your best friend when you are doing makeup. You can decant products and maintain excellent hygiene standards. You can get the set here for only £2.96 (I paid over €20 for my set, I wish I knew about this sooner!)

I ordered this brush belt/ case and I can't wait for it to arrive! Its multi purpose as it functions as a brush belt and also as a case to protect your brushes while you are on the go, This one costs only £7.69 and you could spent €40 in a shop!

I hope you enjoyed this random blog post. Hopefully it will help some trainee makeup artists, qualified makeup artists or any of you makeup lovers!

Lots of love,
Ally
